With a continually improving statewide economy, Florida created more than 23,000 jobs in the month of August, ranking it second among all states according to a new U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report. Florida’s August total of more than 28,000 new private sector jobs created was the highest over-the-month change since April 2011. The state’s unemployment rate of 8.8 percent was 1.7 percentage points lower than the year-ago rate of 10.5 percent and 2.3 percentage points lower than December 2010.
