Tallahassee, FL- July 27, 2012

The Florida State University Police Department will be conducting two DUI checkpoints on campus during the evening of July 27. The first will be held on West Jefferson Street in front of Dorman Hall from 10 to 11 p.m. The second will be held on Call Street at the FSU College of Medicine from midnight to 1 a.m.

The Florida State University Police Department has recorded 36 DUI arrests so far in 2012 by its officers due to continued focus on enforcement of impaired driving. Analysis of arrest records has indicated that fewer than half of DUI arrests on campus are students.

“Our community is dedicated in keeping impaired drivers off the roads to keep our streets safe,” said FSU Police Major Jim Russell. “We want to spread the word widely about the dangers of impaired driving”.

The Florida State University Police Department is an award-winning, accredited, full-service law enforcement agency with primary jurisdiction on property owned or controlled by The Florida State University.
