Police in Titusville, Florida spent the day questioning 40-year old Carolyn "Renee" Miller after the baby she was trusted to care for was found dead.
Miller led officers to the baby's body in a cooler behind her boyfriend's home on South Deleon Avenue.
Miller told police that if they opened up the red cooler behind her boyfriend's house, they would find the body of missing seven-month-old Javeon Brushon. According to investigators, the babysitter claims she woke up from a nap on Thursday or Friday and found the infant lifeless, and cold to the touch.
LT Todd Hutchinson, Titusville Police, says, "She panics, gets nervous, places the infant in a containter and puts it in the backyard of the home where she was watching the infant at, and doesn't tell anyone."
She certainly did not tell the baby's mother, Janelle Richardson, who last saw her son on Thursday. Richardson claims that she frequently leaves her 7-month-old with the babysitter for days at a time. That's why she says she did not realize her son was gone for nearly three full days.
After an all-night search a tipster led police to a Titusville home, where they found the babysitter and the cooler containing the child's body. Miller's sister says that the babysitter would never harm the little boy.
The babysitter has been arrested several times for shoplifting and drug possession. The Department of Children and Families has also taken away her own children, at least temporarily. She will be going to jail tonight but authorities have not decided what the charges will be.
Detectives still do not know how the baby died. Police say they may start with child abuse and go from there once the autopsy is returned.
