St. Petersburg, Florida (AP) --

A couple and their two young children told St. Petersburg Police that masked and armed men held them hostage for about five hours.

Police said the Monday morning (Oct. 4) incident began when the woman who lives in the home was confronted by three masked men. They forced her back inside the home at gunpoint and woke up everyone else.

The ordeal ended when the father dived through a window in a bid
to escape their captors. The men opened fire on him, striking him
once in the upper torso. Police said he did not suffer
life-threatening injuries.

Police said the victim, Michael Eugene Mells, has been charged
with possession of cocaine. He remains hospitalized but has posted
bail and is not in police custody.

To any active drug addicts who might actually read the news in between cocaine binges... This case is EXACTLY why your family/wife gets so upset about your drug use! You do stupid and risky things when you are actively using and you deal with evil people while doing it. Evil people will hurt your innocent family/wife to pay you back for being stupid in your dealings with them. If you want help to stop using drugs just go by your local emergency room and just ask for help to detox and get into a recovery program. The help is available if the willingness is there. Thank God only the man/addict got hurt and not his family.
