Boca Raton, FL (AP) - A Florida man is accused of choking his
puppy to death.
Shane Michael Thompson of Boca Raton was charged Wednesday with animal cruelty.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says a friend called
animal control Oct. 7 to report that he suspected Thompson of
killing his three-legged wolf-dog mix named Moonshine.
Investigators tracked the dog to an animal clinic where Thompson
had tried to have the dog cremated. A necropsy showed the dog
suffered severe blunt force trauma and died from asphyxiation due
to aspiration of food.
Thompson's roommate and friends told police they saw Thompson
abuse Moonshine to discipline the animal on previous occasions.
Thompson remained held without bond early Friday. Jail records
did not show whether he was being represented by an attorney.

hey joanne you and sandy have some good ideas. but how about this, jail no bail till court time, then his "cell" is a cage in the humane society for a few monthes. sleep in the cage and live the life of a animal that would live in one. then communty service there for a least 2 years. top that with a BIG FINE.

Yeah, give him life in prison. Release the serial killers and pedophiles so we don't have over crowding. This person is the true scum of the Earth...... By the way if no one call I am being facetious.

Dirtbag!!! I hope his cell mates are animal lovers and he gets a taste of what that poor dog went through. animals are like children they have no way to protect themselves from creeps like that. We need to ship them all to an island together, leave them there and they can torture each other for fun.

Horrible. While I doubt he will see jail with the lax laws we have concerning animal cruelty, I hope he has to pay a HUGE fine. Wake up, Georgia...help lower crime, declutter jails, and increase our revenue by hitting criminals where it hurts the most: their pocket books.
