The fourth class of the Florida Youth Leadership Academy met for the first time last night 2/23.
The program focuses on leadership and advocacy skills to help engage foster youth in business, government and education.
One alumni to the program says she was able to visit multiple colleges and came back to welcome the new class.
Keyonia Graham, FYLA Alumni says "it gives us a sense of belonging and we also learn a lot of things like public speaking, to me is one of the best thing you can have especially when you're in foster care. It just opens doors."
The class of 2011 are getting right down to work, today 2/24 they will be touring the senate building and meeting with a judge, then they are off to a night of bowling.
