Former Congressman Comments on Arizona Shootings

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is fighting for her life after a gunman goes on a shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona Saturday.

An Arizona surgeon says representative Gabrielle Giffords remains in critical condition and is in a medically induced coma... but she is able to respond to doctors commands, making them optimistic about her recovery.

Authorities say the 40-year-old, who was shot in the head, was targeted at a public gathering outside a busy supermarket yesterday. 19 people including Giffords were wounded but six of those people were killed.

22-year-old Jared Loughner is currently in custody. Former Congressman Allen Boyd has known Giffords for years and I spoke to him on the phone this morning to tell us about his fellow democratic acquaintance.

Former Congressman Allen Boyd says, "Gabby Giffords is a wonderful wonderful person. I know some members of her family, I know her very well personally and we all hope and pray that she will have a very speedy and full recovery."

A federal judge and a 9-year-old girl were among the fatalities.

Authorities have recently cleared a second person of interest in the case and doctors say Giffords is on a ventilator and her eyes are closed but she is able to communicate non-verbally.

part 2, SLAP across TAX PAYERS face. If our economy is in such bad shape then why couldn't prez and his wife travel on the same flight to HAWAII instead of a THREE hour difference saving TAX PAYERS THOUSANDS of $$$? How can you treat people subhuman and expect them to RESPECT you? A good leader leads by example!!

I'm appalled and sadden by the events played out in AZ this past Sat. Lives taken, families and communities devastated by the senseless act of what appears to be an emotional unstable person. I hope gov agencies will take this as a wake up call to the unrest in our nation; an unrest that's caused by gov officials. I believe that as a whole Americians are fed up with government. Promises and slander is all you hear when their seeking election let'em get in office, whole different story. Working class getting duped again. Work pay taxes live meager, never go out except through fast food that's a night on the town. While leaders take extravagant trips with tax $$$. Come on politicians get real/honest, start working for people that put you there. With much remorse I feel this is just the beginning of expressions of dissatisfaction that John-Q-Public feel. Gulf oil spill economy devastated, first lady leaves the country for beaches in another country taking AMERICIAN TAX $$$ out our pockets.

Kiki, who said this?OBAMA: If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying we're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they don't see that kind of up surge in voting in this election, then I think it's gonna be harder, and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2nd.OBAMA MARCH 18, 2009: I don't want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry. I'm angry! What I want us to do, though, is channel our anger that constructive wayOBAMA SEPTEMBER 17, 2008: I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to 'em whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face. What about that hate speech, kiki?

Kiki, you are lying.Look at the 2004 congressional map, just google it,idiot. They used almost the exact same map with bulls eyes instead of crosshairs,so what's the difference? Why don't you do some research before calling someone a liar so you don't make yourself the liar?

There was only 1 target on the Map for that spot in AZ. Why were there 6 dead and many other wounded? This had nothing to do with any map, and only the result of a guy gone crazy.

GV's lying again...that same symbol was not used by Democrats. The right can say "You too" all you want but it's your side that's talking about "2nd amendment solutions" and "reloading".

This IS very sad, young and old alike need not loose their life and many should not fear for their safety. There is blame on all sides of the political spectrum - I read and hear the most vicious comments or inuendo from those who join with the group(s) of "you are with us or you are against us". Another eye opener was the newspersons statement that there is intolerance toward Democrats in Arizona,,,,I think we have that here in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, N & S Carolina as well. Comments like "reload when you run out of ammo" and putting target sites on maps do not help tone down resentment.
