Tallahassee, FL -- May 30, 21012 --

Joey Floyd was a cop with the Havana Police Department from 2002 until 2006. From there he went to Crestview, FL, hired by his former chief in Havana, Brian Mitchell. Floyd was arrested for racketeering in March but a grand jury indictment from the state of Florida alleges much more.

The document has a list of accusations against the former Major. Included are allegations of excessive force such as ordering a female officer to "tase a suspect without cause, even though Floyd knew, at the time, that she was not certified to use a taser."

The indictment also alleges that while on a drug surveillance operation, Floyd purposely rammed his cruiser into the side of the truck leaving the scene. The truck flipped over, causing the pregnant passenger who was "not involved with the operation," to lose her baby.

There are also allegations of exchanging promotions for sexual favors in the office and sexually harassing coworkers.

Both Floyd and Brian Mitchell worked at Havana PD before heading to Crestiview, where they both were fired from their jobs. Floyd's trial is set for June 25th.

I know the guy. Not because he pulled me over or because he arrested me or a loved one. But because I watched him help SO many people in the community that were good people. Like Special Olympics, small businesses, and good citizens. Those screaming foul are likely some of his drug dealing, wife beating, trashy "customers." Joey is like a trashman dealing in human trash. Sometimes the trashman doesn't look so nice, doesn't smell so nice, but I sure do appreciate him getting rid of the trash. And since he's been gone, a lot more trash in town. Beat this indictment and then we can start the "Floyd for Sheriff" campaign.

Steve, maybe you didn't read the indictment, or maybe it "doesn't compute." At least half the officers in the Department during his tenure didnt like him because he was a dirtbag. I know the guy too, and calling him a dirtbag is being kind.

Let's see...Crestview, DOC, Havana, Tallahassee, Jasper, and Gretna are full of dirty cops according to many of the people commenting on this article. Most of them are "experts" because they have first hand knowledge about these cops. Makes me wonder how law-abiding these folks are. I've lived 69 years and I've yet to have a bad experience with a law enforcement officer. Maybe I need to break a few laws so I can better understand how these "commenters" feel.

If not wearing a seatbelt is breaking the law then yes I have gone with out wearing one. That does not give any law officer the right to call me what ever they fill like calling me. I have lived her for over 25 years, never been in trouble with the law of anykind. so just to let you know do not get caught without a seatbelt or there is no telling what will happen

This story doesn't surprise anybody. More police and government corruption in north Florida. People are complacent and even expect and tolerate it. In the meantime, every business outside of Florida that is being recruited to move to north Florida, or any professional, reads stories like this one, Hoffman, AJ Smith etc and reply "are you kidding, move there?" So keep voting these idiots into power and tolerating the corruption. But don't complain when the north Florida economy continues to crash and crime continues to escalate.

I think every single charge/conviction involving this POS crooked cop should be thrown out! He now needs to be charged with murder also! This story sickens me and the sad things is this is just one of many involving cops/judges etc in the cesspool called Florida! Just disgusting!
