Fort Lauderdale, FL (AP) - A former Broward County detention
deputy has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping a female
inmate in 2007.

The judge sentenced 40-year-old Charles Edward Floyd on
Thursday. He was convicted in September of kidnapping and two
counts of sexual battery.

The victim testified that she and three other female inmates
were being transported June 13, 2007. After dropping the other two
women off, Floyd reportedly forced the victim to perform oral sex
and raped her.

Floyd's defense attorney said the woman -- a convicted felon --
was lying in hopes of bringing a million-dollar civil case against
Broward County.

But prosecutors say DNA evidence supported the woman's story.

Floyd previously rejected a plea offer of five years in prison.

Thats right. If women who are upstanding citizens don't report rape because people don't believe them. I could see this going unreported becasue they arent angels and fell no one will belive them either.
