Tallahassee, FL--A man posing as a sales rep, selling furniture, electronics, and office products, has been arrested in a fraud scheme.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office arrested 44 year old Stephen Brown on May 29 TH. LCSO says Brown has posed as a sales representative of several companies. He collects money from individuals when the "orders" are placed, but he fails to provide the products. Brown is also known to post ads on Craigslist.
LCSO says, he is known to have run his scam in Alabama, Georgia and the Leon County area.
"Payment up front is always a red flag to be leary of," said Lieutenant James McQuaig from the Leon County Sheriff's Office. "You can pay up front when you received the services and in this case that is what was happening, people were paying up front and never receiving the services."
He drove a yellow 2005 Crown Royal with a Georgia license plate.
Brown is currently in the Leon County Jail on charges of Grand Theft and Organized Scheme to Defraud.
Anyone who has conducted business transactions with Brown in Leon County is asked to call the Financial Crimes Unit at (850) 922-3400.
