Roy Barnes, one of the Gadsden County Citizens on Patrol, makes house calls to other seniors to make sure they're safe. "I just love helping people, helping older people," says Barnes.

Monday, he and 63 other community volunteers were honored by the sheriff, mayor and county commissioner.

This celebration luncheon marks the one year anniversary of the Keeping Independent Seniors Safe also known as KISS and Citizens on Patrol or C.O.P.S.

K.I.S.S. Coordinator Tashonda Whaley says, "It's basically a welfare check program to make sure that they're ok and we call them twice a week using volunteers."
