Talk about pain at the pump.
Filling up at the gas station lately has left many empty-handed.
Gas prices have been rising - up to 40 cents in just a few weeks in some cases. The Tallahassee Average Gas Price for March 2014 was $3.43. In April 2014, the average was $3.68. So prices at the pumps across Tallahassee are up about 25 cents from last month.
The average price for gas in Florida right now is $3.74, so Tallahassee falls a little bit below that average. But last year at this time, Florida was at an average $3.49 per gallon.
The US average right now is $3.61, about 10 cents up from last year.
A person from the Florida petroleum marketers association said the reason prices are up is because of shipping costs. Florida gets oil from Louisiana, and if there aren't enough ships to bring it here, the price will rise.
