Tallahassee, FL -- June 13, 2012 --
Tallahassee resident Marcus Houston says because gas prices had been so high, the 20 dollars he just put in is pretty standard for him.
Houston says, "It's been a while since my tank has seen the full mark. The needle usually goes anywhere from half to full. It rarely gets to the full."
His needle may get to go past the halfway mark now that the price at the pump is going down.
AAA says gas prices have been falling five cents a week.
"I guess I can say I get more bang for the buck."
AAA says the national average price of regular unleaded gas is $3.53...
Florida's average of $3.37 and Georgia's average of $3.30 both decreased six cents from last week.
I've spotted several gas stations in Tallahassee with gas for $3.19 ... and at least one for $3.17.
Cassandra Gaskins, Tallahassee resident, says, "It really can be tough; especially when people have to save money to go grocery shopping or if they have kids. So, it's a good thing for the gas prices to go down."
AAA projects that because the price of oil has plummeted in recent weeks, American drivers will save about $10 billion in gas money this summer.
Gaskins adds, "I planned to go to Orlando this summer. I'm crossing my fingers that it's going to be down to $2 by that time. But, I can only hope so much."
AAA says the price of oil is expected to remain significantly below earlier forecasts that predicted gas at $5 by Memorial Day.
