Thousands of students are donning their caps and gowns as they prepare to cross the stage this weekend. They'll be celebrating years of hard work and dedication that have now paid off with a degree - But they won't be the only ones.

"Typically, graduation weekends are huge," says Lauren Searcy of Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association.

This weekend is expected to bring in lots of extra cash for local hotels and restaurants. Lauren Searcy with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association says while the organization doesn't keep tabs how much money comes in during these weekends, she is expecting many businesses to see a bump in their bottom line.

"Any time we can have lines out the door at our restaurants and one hundred percent occupancy in all of our hotels, it's a great weekend," says Searcy.

With graduation just days away and many hotel rooms booked, the parents of some FSU seniors are making alternate travel plans in order to enjoy this great weekend.

"They're from Orlando so for them it's just a four hour drive. They'll come here in the morning, take pictures and go out to dinner," says Jonathan Koskosky .

And getting a dinner outside the cafeteria walls are what some seniors say they are looking forward to.

"It will be nice to get some free meals and it's nice to see family too," says Allison Mickunas.

*** Note *** Resorts like Honey Lake Plantation in Greenville have at least 40 rooms available for the graduation weekend.
