Gretna, FL - The City of Gretna Public Safety Department has two men in custody after a two hour man hunt.

Officer Porter with the Greensboro Police Department was traveling East on Hwy 12 on his way to Quincy when he noticed a suspicious vehicle in the woods.

Officer Porter called for the assistance of Officer Kenny Lewis with the Gretna Public Safety Department. Upon arrival the officers stopped the suspicious vehicle that was occupied by two black males later identified as Timmy Davis (31) and Shelby Davis (61).

Upon further investigation the officers determined that the two men were stealing metal and copper from a nearby shed. Officer Lewis asked Timmy Davis to step out of the vehicle and place his hands behind his back.

As Officer Lewis attempted to place hand-cuffs on Timmy Davis, he began to resist Officer Lewis. Officer Porter came to the aid of Officer Lewis and an intensive struggle ensued. During the struggle Timmy Davis attempted to remove Officer Lewis’s firearm from the holster.

Officer Porter was able to remove Davis’s hand from the firearm before he was able to upholster it. The struggle lasted for about five minutes longer with Timmy Davis escaping arrest. Shelby Davis was arrested on scene.

With the assistance of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Department, Florida Hwy Patrol, ACI- K-9 Team, Leon County Sheriff’s Department Helicopter Unit, and the Greensboro Police Department Timmy Davis was captured in the woods after being tracked by the ACI-K-9 team.

Timmy Davis is being charged with burglary to a structure, grand theft, battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and resisting arrest. Shelby Davis is being charged with Burglary to a structure, and grand theft. Both subjects are currently in the Gadsden County Jail.
