Tallahassee, FL-Minority leaders are calling for more equality under Florida's healthcare system.

A group of politicians, students and doctors dropped off a letter to Governor Rick Scott's Office Friday.

In the letter, the group is asking the state to provide better access to healthcare for minorities.

The group says there are huge disparities in the access to healthcare. It is asking to meet with the governor to go over some of its ideas to improve the system.

"We believe that just a reasonable review of the data alone will help him to understand the crisis and the need for focused intervention," said Leon County Commissioner, Bill Proctor, who spearheaded the event.

The group says it will give the governor a few weeks to respond before it plans its next course of action.
