Tallahassee, FL-Governor Rick Scott is honoring one of Florida former insurance commissioner.
The governor presented Bill Gunter with the Great Floridian Award Tuesday. The annual award honors those who have made a significant contribution to the state.
Gunter served as Florida's insurance commissioner, treasurer and fire marshal.
He also served in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Scott presented Gunter with the award during a cabinet meeting in front of Gunter's family and friends.
"There could be no higher honor in my opinion than to be recognized by these executives of our state and listed among those who have received this award in the past," said Gunter.
Charles H. Bronson was also presented with the Great Floridian Award by the Governor.
He served as Florida's former commissioner of agriculture.
