A Tallahassee Police officer says two people tried to break into a home on Borderline Drive in the Ox Bottom neighborhood. The homeowner was there and the suspects got away on foot. TPD tried tracking them with K9s but they haven't found suspects. The home is located on a street behind Hawks Rise Elementary. TPD alerted Hawks Rise about the crime and the school voluntarily locked down.

The head of school resource officers for Leon County Schools confirms that Hawks Rise Elementary School was on lockdown while police investigated a break-in on Borderline Drive.
From the principal at Hawks Rise:
We were notified by the Tallahassee Police Department via our school district’s Safety and Security Office that there was criminal activity in the Hawks Rise neighborhood. We immediately ensured all students were safe indoors and placed the school on lockdown. All of our students are safe and were provided lunch. As soon as the Tallahassee Police Department gave our Safety and Security Office the all clear, we resumed our normal school activities. As always, we appreciate your support and trust in knowing that your children’s safety is our number one priority.
All clear given. Lockdown is over. Cause was nearby criminal activity. Normal school activities resumed.
