ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A 27-year-old Orlando man received a 12
1/2-year prison sentence for shooting at an Orange County Sheriff's
Office helicopter.

The sentence, handed down Tuesday, followed a guilty verdict in
January against Jason Dennis McGuire. He was convicted on charges
of attempted destruction of an aircraft, possessing a firearm after
being convicted of a felony and for using a firearm during a
violent crime.

McGuire denied shooting at the helicopter on March 21, 2010.
Instead, McGuire said he intended to kill himself.

Deputies were responding to a call about shots fired at McGuire's home when the helicopter was hit.
