65-year-old William Martin Shiver died in a hit and run motorcycle accident Saturday evening around 5:45 p.m.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Shiver and the driver of the other car involved, that hasn't been identified, were traveling west on US-90 (State Road 10) in the westbound travel lane.
Shiver was approaching the unidentified driver's vehicle from behind at a high rate of speed. Shiver's motorcycle began to skid and struck Vehicle 2 in the rear.
According to reports, Shiver was thrown from his motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound travel lane. The unidentified driver's vehicle came to rest on its right side facing southwest on the westbound paved apron.
The unidentified driver of the vehicle left the crash scene without exchanging the required information or providing medical
aid to Shiver.
According to a witness, the unidentified vehicle in question was a small, 4-door passenger car which was grey or green in color. This vehicle may have damage to its rear with purple paint transfer from Shiver's motorcycle.
