Holiday Hunger Relief Program

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Nov. 21, 2013) —Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., launched its Holiday Hunger Relief Program to help eliminate hunger in local communities this holiday season. From now through Dec. 24, Winn-Dixie customers can help provide meals for families in need by donating at any store register when they purchase groceries.

“We want the holidays to be a time of joy and thankfulness for everyone we serve in our communities,” said Mary Kellmanson, Winn-Dixie’s senior vice president of marketing. “Our partnership with Feeding America offers a meaningful way for the community to come together and support our neighbors.”

Contributions of any size will make a significant impact in battling hunger this season. Every dollar donated goes directly to local Feeding America food banks in the communities that Winn-Dixie serves. Thousands of local families will benefit from these donations and receive fresh, nutritious foods.

The 17 food banks benefiting from the Holiday Hunger Relief Program include:

  • Feeding America Tampa Bay, Tampa, Fla.

  • Feeding South Florida, Pembroke Park, Fla.

  • Feeding the Valley Food Bank, Columbus, Ga.

  • Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Baton Rouge, La.

  • Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, Fort Myers, Fla.

  • Mississippi Food Network, Jackson, Miss.

  • Montgomery Area Food Bank, Montgomery, Ala.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, New Orleans, La.

  • Second Harvest North Florida, Jacksonville, Fla.

  • Second Harvest of South Georgia, Valdosta, Ga.

  • Treasure Coast Food Bank, Fort Pierce, Fla.
