A Tallahassee house fire is being called an act of arson.

The home on Holton Street caught the other week. Now the state fire marshal says it is an act of arson.

The state fire marshal will not say what evidence led them to that conclusion.

But the fire marshal is offering a reward up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The Tallahassee Fire Department is calling a house fire from last week suspicious.

A home on Holton Street caught fire Friday night .

TFD says the fire started outside, which is why firefighters think it's suspicious.

Now the state fire marshal is investigating to see if arson is the cause.

The fire was quickly put out. No one was hurt or inside the home at the time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

September 14, 2012 at 10:30 p.m., Tallahassee Fire Department units from Station 3 and 1 responded to a house fire in the 2200 Block of Holton Street.

Crews were met with flames on the backside and attic of the single story wood frame structure. The fire was extinguished within minutes of arrival. No occupants were inside and damages are estimated at $8,000.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

The Tallahassee Police Department also assisted at the scene and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Tallahassee Fire Department.
