[UPDATE] Lafayette Oaks Home Fire in Tallahassee

Tallahassee, Florida --

Updated 10-06 7:00pm

Firefighters battled a blaze at a home in Leon County's Lafayette Oaks subdivision just Thursday morning.

Tallahassee firefighters say they got the call at about 10:30am to a home on Napoleon Bonaparte Drive off Mahan Drive.

The homeowner, Timothy Casey, says he heard an explosion in his garage and says when he went to check it out, the area was full of flames and smoke.

Firefighters say the fire extended to the attic, but they kept it from spreading to the rest of the home.

Casey said, "Lost one car, probably some patient x-ray films about ten years worth, four x-ray machines, a couple film processors. But, we're all safe and good and proud and pleased."

Casey says he and his wife were the only ones home at the time.

Their dogs also made it out safely.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
