Coral Gables, FL (AP) - President Barack Obama says the Nov. 2
midterm elections aren't about whether Americans are happy with
where the country is right now, but rather about which party can
get the nation where it needs to be.
Speaking at a Democratic fundraiser at an oceanfront estate,
Obama said Republicans are peddling the same philosophy that led
the country into a recession. He said the GOP has a "lack of
seriousness" about how to solve the country's problems.
Obama's Florida event is expected to raise about $1 million for
the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Rep. Ron Klein,
an incumbent in a tight race to keep his seat.
The event was held at the home of former basketball star Alonzo
Mourning in a gated community southwest of Miami.
