Update 1-19 7:52 pm

A former Jasper City Manager will have to wait two weeks before he can find out whether he'll get his job back.

Tuesday night, the City Council heard from residents who spoke for and against Larry Cail coming back.

The Council says they put off their decision on Cail until January 15th where they will also address another Councilman's voter registration.

But some residents say they felt like Cail lacked some vital skills to be a good leader.

"Being a person that has a good human relation skills makes a big difference in how city government runs especially when they are the head of that city government," said Ellis Wright.

Cail is also requesting unemployment which the city will vote on Thursday night.
Update 1-07 9:47 pm

On December 13th, Council members voted to fire Larry Cail. Earlier this week, Cail filed a written request for a public hearing.

In his statement, Cail says, "It is my contention that as Jasper City Manager, I have done nothing wrong. All actions taken by me as a city manager were efforts to make a financially stable and efficiently operating City, and were within the authority given to the City Manager by the City Charter."

The city has accepted his request and his public hearing will be on January 18th.

Update- 12-14 7:54 pm

"I was quite surprised."

Residents were blown away when Jasper City Council decided to terminate the City Manager.

"I was not expecting that to happen. I was expecting maybe he get chewed out a little bit," said Bob Clark.

With a three to two vote city council members made the move to remove City Manager Larry Cail final.

"Somewhere done road something went wrong, I don't know if he had the authority to do what he wanted to do but I think he did somethings wrong," said John Paul.

But for city employees who say they were being treated unfairly it's a step in the right direction.

Paul says he was promised a raise and told there was no money for it... but found out one of his colleague's received one.

"I don't think it's right for another man to come in working 13,14 years making more money than someone whose been working 15 years," said Paul.

But residents say terminating Cail should be just the beginning.

"They're trying to go in two different directions. They spend more time fighting than they do worrying about what's going on and what's good for the city," said Clark.

Cail was the sixth city manager in six years. Residents say they hope they next will last longer.

Cail has 15 days to file a written complaint from there council members will hold a public meeting.
Jasper, FL -

"The City Hall will fall apart if we don't do something about it, said Council member LaBarfield Bryant."

Jasper City council members couldn't hold back when talking about how City Manager Larry Cail handled city employees.

"Certain Employees are told they can work overtime, other employees are told they cannot work overtime, said Council member Elaine Rozier."

Residents couldn't hold back either.

"But the treatment they're getting from our city hall is absolutely ridiculous. I myself as a female knows what it's like to be discriminated against int he job force and it hurts."

But not all were against him.

"Larry Cail has an open office unlike the previous city manager, I have never been denied entrance to that office and don't believe anyone else has."

When asked about certain situations involving employees this is what Cail had to say.

"I don't know who gave that information out," said Cail.
"They said you did," said Council woman Elaine Rozier.
"I never told him that," said Cail.

And with that council members moved forward with a decision to terminate Cail.

On a vote of three to two his termination became final.

Some residents say it was embarrassing but others say it was the best decision for the city.

The Jasper City Council is now preparing to search for a new City Manager.

We'll bring you more as this story develops.
