A Jefferson County woman confronts an intruder at her family's home on Thompson Valley Road.
According to Sheriff David Hobbs, it happened at about 3am. He says the woman, who happens to be a correctional officer at the Jefferson County Jail, was staying at a family home just north of I-10.
Hobbs said she heard glass breaking and went out to investigate and confronted a skinny white man. Hobbs says the two got into a scuffle, but the burglar ultimately ran off.
He says deputies and dogs did not have any luck finding him.
Hobbs says there is no reason to believe the woman was targeted because she was a correctional officer. He says the home is often vacant and the man probably thought he was breaking into an unoccupied house.
