JCSO Press Release - On October 11, 2010, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to the Johnny Williams Park in reference to burglary and criminal mischief. Someone had entered the restroom area and started small fires on the concrete floor and in the trashcan. It also appeared the person(s) extinguished the fires after starting them.
A glass window of the concession building was broken and a small amount of damage to a door was discovered inside.
Video revealed on Friday afternoon on October 8, two white male juveniles, playing with firecrackers, had entered the restroom, started and extinguished the fires. The two juveniles were identified. One was ten years of age and the other was nine years of age.
The video also revealed on Saturday October 9, a black make juvenile broke the window of the concession building and entered the building. The juvenile was identified. He was 14 years of age.
These were separate incidents and the juveniles will be charged with burglary of a structure and criminal mischief.
