The race for Circuit Judge for Florida's second circuit came down to two Tallahassee women attorneys, Karen Gievers and Barbara Hobbs.
Over 120,000 votes were cast as of 10:30pm Tuesday night.
Karen Gievers captured 59 percent of the votes while Barbara Hobbs has 41 percent.
So it looks like Gievers will be the newest circuit judge for Florida's second circuit.
Gievers had an election watch party in Tallahassee and was surrounded by close fiends, family and community supporters.
"Those in the legal community always think that they are the ones that know what being a judge is all about, but it also depend on what our citizens think because our judicial branch is for citizens not just for lawyers, for the community itself," said Gievers.
Gievers has made a name for herself as an advocate for abused and neglected children. She was named one of the "Top Ten Lawyers in America" by the National Law Journal in 2000.
Barbara Hobbs did not want to comment at this time.
