A deadly Fourth of July shooting all started with a game of cards.
Two men have been arrested in the murder of 29 year old Markeith Gordon and neither one is a stranger to trouble.
Markeith Gordon lost his life in his own front yard. The sheriff says it started with an argument over a card game in the garage.
It escalated into a fist fight and ultimately to murder in the driveway. Gordon was shot once in the heart.
"One of the subjects picked up a gun and fired a number of shots into the ceiling to try and calm things down. When he did that he put the gun back down and the other fella, Meekins, grabbed the gun and shot Gordon in the chest with it," Sheriff Larry Campbell said.
Ahmad Hinson is the one accused of firing into the air and Errol Lee Meekins is accused of firing the fatal shot.
Meekins has been to prison before and both men have been to jail. In fact, our cameras were rolling in 2009 when Hinson was arrested at gunpoint in a holiday drug sting.
This time, witnesses picked both men out of photo line ups and there may have been dozens of people there when it happened.
"We've had reports of between 36 to 50 (party guests) and we're continuing to interview people to see how many are eyeball witnesses," the sheriff said.
Family members gathered at the house Friday afternoon, but weren't ready to talk about all that's happened.
Neighbors on Carmen Rocio Way won't talk on camera but tell us they are relieved that Meekins and Hinson have been caught.
Deputies say the accused trigger man made it easy. He dropped his driver's license in the street before driving away.
Hinson was ordered to be held without bond at his first court appearance this morning. Court records show Meekins refused to go at all.

The arrests come less than 24 hours after a man was shot and killed at his own party.
UPDATE: July 5, 2012
At 12:05 am on July 5, 2012, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at 364 Carmen Rocio Way. When deputies arrived, they learned that 29 year old Markeith Gordon and his wife were hosting a house party with a large group of friends.
During the party, an argument led to someone pulling a handgun and shooting Gordon. Responding deputies and paramedics performed
life saving measures; however, Gordon died on scene. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Crime Scene Unit responded, processed the scene and conducted witness interviews.
Preliminary results from an autopsy conducted today indicated Gordon died as a result of a single gunshot wound. During the course of this investigation, Detectives made contact with Errol Meekins, 24, and Ahmad Hinson, 23, who had both been in attendance at the party.
Detectives believe that Gordon, Meekins and Hinson began arguing and Meekins and Hinson were told to leave. The argument then continued to the street in front of Gordon’s house. According to witnesses, Meekins and Gordon got into a physical altercation and Hinson pulled a handgun and fired it into the air. Meekins then took the gun from Hinson and shot Gordon. Meekins and Hinson fled the scene but were later contacted by Detectives at 1619 Lake Avenue, #2C. Both men were arrested and taken to the Leon County Jail.
Sheriff Larry Campbell stated, “While I’m glad this case has been quickly cleared with these arrests, I’m concerned over this senseless crime and the blatant disregard for human life these defendants
demonstrated by their actions here today.”

A fourth of July party ended in murder in Tallahassee.
So far there are no arrests and deputies have not released the name of the man killed in the street either.
"The whole neighborhood was watching as they were doing their investigation," Colin Lloyd said.
Lloyd came home to see squad cars and an ambulance right around the corner from his home.
"We asked someone and they said someone had gotten shot, someone had been shot, so we were devastated and we were surprised also too. Our prayers go out to the family that lost someone," Lloyd said.
Many neighbors tell us they didn't realize any gunshots were fired because there were so many fireworks being set off in the neighborhood.
Many were hesitant to talk on camera but say there were at least a dozen cars lining the street and estimate there may have been as many as 50 people at the party.
They are anxious to find out who was killed, who did it and why.

A fourth of July party on Tallahassee's southside ends in gunfire. One person is dead and Leon County deputies are calling it a homicide.
It happened at home on Carmen Rocio Way, off Woodville Highway not far from Capital Circle.
This morning, there was plenty of evidence of a party in the cul de sac in front of the home: beer cans, crab shells, bottle rockets and other fireworks. The only evidence of a crime scene is the blood still in the street.
The call came in just after midnight. An argument at a home near the corner of Montejo Drive and Carmen Rocio Way ended with shots fired.
Deputies are not yet releasing the name of the person who was killed.
They tell us they have been gathering evidence at the crime scene all night and interviewing witnesses.
An LCSO spokesman would not comment about a suspect, but they expect to release more information this afternoon.
When Eyewitness News stopped by the house early this morning, two women were picking up trash in the yard and told us they could not comment.
We will bring you more information as soon as we get it and keep you posted if there is an arrest.
