TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Event Photography Group, the largest commencement & endurance race photography company in North America, announced today that it has chosen to expand its local operations and locate its GradImages division in Leon County. The company will be creating jobs in our community, as well as expanding its facilities.

Following its humble beginnings, local business Bob Knight Photo underwent multiple acquisitions, leading to its purchase by Event Photography Group (EPG).

EPG conducted a multi-state search and evaluation, resulting in its selection of Tallahassee, Florida, for its expansion and divisional relocation. Its facility will be located at 3490 Martin Hurst Road, where the company is creating more than 50 new full-time and seasonal jobs with an average annual wage that is more than 115 percent of the average annual wage of the region. The jobs being created consist of those being hired as part of the divisional headquarters relocation, as well as those resulting from the local expansion The company is also making a capital investment in excess of $350,000 in facilities and equipment.

“The favorable business climate and educated workforce found in Tallahassee made this community a top choice in our search,” said Bob Knight, Senior Vice President of EPG. “The economic incentives identified by the EDC were extremely helpful to complete our strategy of relocating our divisional headquarters, expanding our local facilities and operations, as well as hiring more staff.”

EPG’s investment in the community is expected to have a positive annual economic impact of $5.8 million.

“Florida will see this impressive return on its investment through the business and jobs that EPG will bring,” said John Adams Jr., president & CEO of Enterprise Florida Inc., Florida’s principal economic development organization. “This project also demonstrates Florida’s value as base for company headquarters, which aligns nicely with our strategic plan for business generation. We’re very excited and welcome EPG as one of our corporate citizens.”

“It’s a great day for the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County when we can help retain jobs in our community, assist in creating new jobs, and add a divisional headquarters to our tax base,” said Kim Williams, Chairman of the EDC.

“Doing our part to help a successful, local business thrive and grow without leaving our community was an easy decision to make,” said John Dailey, Chairman of Leon County Board of County Commissioners.

EPG is the leading provider of professional event photography services to educational institutions and endurance race organizers. GradImages, EPG’s commencement division, photographs approximately 1.6 million graduates at 3,500 commencement ceremonies in 46 states of the US and six provinces of Canada each year. Its sister division, MarathonFoto, photographs 1.2 million participants at more than 150 races throughout the world, including World Marathon Majors (Berlin, London, Chicago and Boston), as well as many other premier global events.

“During my years as a high-school principal and superintendent in Leon County, I had the pleasure of being one of Bob Knight Photo’s first customers by hiring the business to photograph the school commencement ceremonies,” said Senator Bill Montford. “It makes me proud to watch this once small, local business become an international corporation. They have always provided excellent service.”
