Leon County Boasts Best And Brightest

Tallahassee, FL -- May 16, 2012 --

Leon County honors the top high school and middle school students Wednesday night.

Tonight was the 7th annual Best and Brightest Ceremony on the campus of Florida State University. Close to 200 students were honored in the 15 academic categories. More than $50,000 in scholarships were presented to the finalists.

"You're the best of the best," said Leon County schools superintendent Jackie Pons. "I take a little bit of honor in speaking for the whole community to tell you how proud we are of each and every one of you."

Some of the categories included art, technology, public speaking and mathematics.
