Tallahassee, Florida –
On October 12th at 1:30 p.m., three teams of Leon County School 4th grade students will battle each other for the title of “2010 Municipal Brain Bowl Champion.” The event will be held in the City of Tallahassee Commission Chambers.
The Florida League of Cities is hosting the "Municipal Brain Bowl" to lead into Florida City Government Week—October 17-23, 2010, established by the Florida Cabinet to recognize the public service contributions of cities.
The municipal brain bowl was designed by the League to engage citizens, specifically students, in understanding the function and purpose of municipal government. The teams, who have been studying for several weeks, will compete on general city government facts and also be quizzed on specific facts relative to the City of Tallahassee’s history and operations. The Brain Bowl will offer students an extraordinary learning opportunity and give them a special treat as they answer questions from the chairs that Tallahassee Commissioners sit in during official commission meetings.
