Leon County Holiday Closures and Service Changes
All Leon County offices and community centers will be closed on Friday,
Dec. 24, and Saturday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday, and on Friday, Dec. 31, and on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, for the New Year holiday. County parks will remain open.
All libraries will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and on Saturday, Dec.
25. The Main Library will reopen at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, and all
branch libraries will reopen at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28. All
libraries will also be closed on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011. The Main
Library will reopen at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, and branch libraries
will reopen at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
The Rural Waste Service Centers and the Solid Waste Management Facility on Apalachee Parkway, with the exception of the administrative offices, will be open on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, and all will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day. The Rural Waste Service Centers will reopen the following Sundays. Waste Management, Inc., will run its normal routes both this week and next but will be closed Saturday, Dec. 25, and on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, for the holidays. Leon County Animal Control will also be closed; however, in the event
of an emergency, service is available by calling the Leon County
Sheriff's Office at (850) 922-3300. Leon County Animal Control
encourages residents to only use this service in cases of dangerous or
aggressive dogs, sick or injured domestic animals, animal cruelty or
animal bites. Injured wildlife calls will be forwarded to the St.
Francis Wildlife Association at (850) 627-4151.
