Leon County Holiday Closures and Service Changes

All Leon County offices and libraries will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. County parks and community centers will remain open.

The Rural Waste Service Centers will be closed as they are normally closed on Mondays. Marpan Recycling and the Solid Waste Management Facility on Apalachee Parkway, will be open, and Waste Management, Inc., will run its normal routes. For more information, call the Leon County Solid Waste Management Division at (850) 606-1800.

Leon County Animal Control will also be closed; however, in the event of an emergency, service is available by calling the Leon County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 922-3300. Leon County Animal Control encourages residents to only use this service in cases of dangerous or aggressive dogs, sick or injured domestic animals, animal cruelty or animal bites. Injured wildlife calls will be forwarded to the St. Francis Wildlife Association at (850) 627-4151.
