Jacob Chapel Baptist Church and Bethel Missionary Baptist Church held their annual community service events at The Shelter on Tennessee Street.

Jacob Chapel set up outside with boxes full of clothes for people to rummage through and take with them.

Inside, the ladies of Bethel prepared a hot lunch and sang Christmas carols while people enjoyed their meals.

Both ministries say their faith is what motivates them to serve the community.

"We want to keep in line with what the Bible says and be a part of the community and help those who may not be able to help themselves," said Eddie Hadley of Jacob Chapel.

"Which is to do unto the least of these, our brothers and sisters, as well as to go out into the world provide for those who are in need," said Gloria Holmes, of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Collectively, the churches served more than 300 hundred people on Saturday.
