A group of Tallahassee firefighters are feeling the burn.

Chief Cindy Dick is leading her team in the WorkQuest Working Well Fitness Challenge.

The chief has lost 26 pounds.

She said, "We've just been doing just anything you can imagine that we looked at other people and said, I'll never do that. They've been making us do those kinds of things."

Eight teams of four from various local businesses and organizations were chosen to compete in the 90-day challenge.

Deputy Fire Chief Wes Roberts lost 67 pounds.

He said, "It's been wonderful. But, it's a demonstration of how much I needed to lose it, too."

The teams got free personal training during the first 60 days; and now nearing the end of the final 30, they are now on their own.

Diana Shipley, with the Florida Association of Insurance Agents Team, lost 16 Pounds.

She said, "No slacking. Anytime it's time to go to the gym, you don't have a choice. You get your butt in the car and you go."

Shipley's teammate, Leann Paul, said, "I didn't lose that much. But, I toned up what I needed to tone up and I can now fit in my daughter's clothes, which she hates."

Linda Warmath, with the Tallahassee Memorial Health Care Team, lost 17 Pounds.

She said, "We all have some type of medical issues as we've gotten older and our main reason for entering the challenge was health purposes first and then secondary to lose weight."

Teammate Linda Bernard lost 15 pounds.

She said, "But, most important, my husband noticed that when he hugs me now in the morning, he can put his arms around me."

The winning team will be announced May 12th at the Filling Station in Mid Town from 5:30-7:30.
