Tallahassee, Florida –
Construction workers from Capital Asphalt will begin resurfacing work on Monroe Street from Jefferson Street to Thomasville Road Tuesday night, May 31. Work begins in the north and southbound parking lanes. During this time there will be no parking allowed after 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, and from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday, June 2. Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) officers will place covers at the meters to alert motorists.
Also, Thomasville Road at the intersection of Monroe Street will be closed Tuesday night, May 31, for pavement work. Northbound traffic from Monroe to Thomasville Road will be detoured to 6th Avenue. Southbound Thomasville Road traffic will use Calhoun Street and Brevard Street as a detour.
The work is part of a $2.5 million construction project to resurface and add safety improvements to Monroe Street from Perkins Street to Thomasville Road.
