Man Indicted in Tallahassee Good Samaritan Murder

A Leon County grand jury today indicted Jason Reser for the murder of Christopher Breeze.

He was killed in November 2012 when he stopped to break up a fight on Orchid Drive. Police say Reser stole Breeze's truck and ran over him with it.

Reser was indicted on one count of first degree murder and one count of carjacking.

A trial date has not yet been set.


[PROBABLE CAUSE ATTACHED]

Tallahassee, FL - A weekend party left a man dead in the street. Deputies say Christopher Breeze was killed when he stopped to break up a fight.

George Blankenship, Friend of Breeze: "It's been tough. Thinking about him all the time, helped everybody when he could."

That's all that George Blankenship could really say about the man he says was like family.

Blankenship says he went to bed over the weekend and woke up to find out Christopher Breeze died yards from his home.

Blankenship goes on to describe Breeze as, "kind helpful, just talkative when you knew him. Just a good guy."

Deputies say Breeze was being a good guy when he was run down with his own truck.

Leon County Deputies say Jason Reser showed up to a party on Orchid Drive early Saturday morning.

Arrest papers say Reser started a fight with people at the party, and that's when deputies say Breeze was about to drive by and stopped to help.

Witnesses say Reser then jumped into Breeze's truck that was still running and took off, hitting Breeze not once but twice.

He died in the street.

The attorney handling Reser's case had no comment.

Court records show in the past Reser has been charged with grand theft and leaving the scene of a crash.

Court records show he has been deemed incompetent to proceed at least once.

They say he was carjacked then hit with his own truck twice.

Christopher Breeze was killed over the weekend. The Leon County Sheriff's Office says Breeze pulled over on Orchid Drive near Capital Circle SouthWest when he saw people fighting.

Based on witness statements, deputies say Jason Reser who had been involved in the fight jumped into Breeze's truck and pulled off.

When Reser did that Breeze was reportedly hit.

The report says after driving away, Reser drove back down Orchid and ending up hitting Breeze again along with some mailboxes.


Tallahassee, FL - November 19, 2012 - Jason Reser made his first court appearance on Sunday. The judge is withholding bond in the case.

A public defender has been appointed to represent Mr. Reser.

Tallahassee, FL - November 17, 2012

A 23-year-old Tallahassee man is behind bars after Leon County Deputies say he stole another man's vehicle and then ran him over with it and killed him.

The Sheriff's Office says a group of people. including Jason Reser were fighting around 2 a.m. along Orchid Drive.

The Sheriff's Office says Christopher Breeze, was driving by when he saw the group fighting and got out of his vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office says Reser stole Breeze's vehicle and hit Breeze with it before trying to get away by driving down Orchid Drive to Capital Circle Southeast.

The Sheriff's Office says Reser turned the vehicle around and drove back up Orchid, hitting Breeze again.

Reser left the vehicle, now disabled, and fled in an unknown direction.

Witnesses say Breeze died in the street.

The commotion brought some neighbors out to see what was going on.

"We came outside and we seen a man went down that way real fast and he came back this way real fast and he hit a guy and then he came back and ran him over again," says one woman who says she saw it happen.

The Sheriff's Office says it found Reser just a few hours later. He was arrested and taken to the Leon County Jail. He is charged with felony murder and carjacking.

Reser does have a criminal record. According to court records, Reser has been charged with grand theft, burglary and leaving the scene of an accident in the past.

Tallahassee, FL - November 17, 2012

Early this morning, November 17, 2012, at approximately 2:00am Christopher A. Breeze, 35-years-old, was traveling in the 4700 block of Orchid Drive when he encountered a group of subjects in the street
engaged in physical altercation.

Breeze stopped and exited his vehicle. One of the subjects involved in
the altercation then entered the driver’s side of Breeze’s vehicle, and after struggling with Breeze, stole the vehicle and began to flee the area. As the suspect fled the area he struck Breeze with the vehicle.

The suspect fled south on Orchid Drive to Capital Circle Southeast, turned around, crashed in a ditch, then traveled back north on Orchid Drive and struck Breeze with the stolen vehicle again. The suspect
fled the area and left the disabled, stolen vehicle near the intersection of Balkin Road and Ballard Road.

The suspect abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled the area in an unknown direction or mode of travel. The Florida Highway Patrol and the Tallahassee Police Department responded to the area and
assisted in the search for the suspect.

LCSO Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Detectives responded to the scene and identified Jason Dennis Reser as a suspect. Reser was located hours later and taken into custody without incident.

Reser is charged with Felony Murder and Carjacking, and will booked into the Leon County Jail.
