MIAMI (AP) -- Miami-Dade police are continuing their search for suspects in the case of a man set on fire at a gas station on Christmas night.

The Miami Herald reports 44-year-old Darrell Brackett remained in the hospital on Sunday, recovering from severe burns.

Police say the attack happened shortly before midnight on Christmas. They say Brackett had taken some guests home when his van ran out of gas. He walked to a nearby gas station and paid for gasoline. Moments later, witnesses saw Brackett running in the street, his body on fire.

The Herald reports that police have spoken to one man and are still searching for another man. Investigators would also like to talk to another man and a woman who may have information and who have been involved. No charges have been filed.

MIAMI (AP) -- Police and family members are wondering why a 44-year-old man was attacked and set on fire outside a Miami gas station on Christmas night.

While Darrell Brackett was being treated for burns over 75 percent of his body at a Miami hospital on Thursday, police continued their search for answers.

Brackett and his girlfriend dropped their guests off after hosting a Christmas night cookout. On their way home, the van ran out of gas and Brackett walked to the gas station.

The Miami Herald reports he paid for gas then walked to the pump. No one is sure what happened next, but a woman saw Brackett on fire and ran to help.

Miami-Dade police are treating the case as possible attempted murder. Anyone with information should contact police.
