Associated Press Release
LARGO, Fla. (AP) -- A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife.
As part of a deal with Pinellas County prosecutors, 73-year-old William Bolling pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder. He had been facing a first-degree murder charge.
Authorities say Bolling got drunk in May 2012 and began arguing with his wife, 64-year-old Vicki Bolling. William Bolling shot his wife three times as she ran outside their house in northeast St. Petersburg. Neighbors reported seeing him come outside with a gun and then going back inside the house. The Tampa Bay Times reports that Bolling admitted the murder to St. Petersburg police.
Vicki Bolling's two adult sons spoke at Friday's hearing. They said their step-father had been abusing their mother for years.
