West Palm Beach, FL - A South Florida man has been found
guilty of killing his roommate but avoided a first-degree murder
A Palm Beach County jury found 41-year-old Daniel Lee Alexander
guilty Tuesday of second-degree murder with a weapon and abusing a
dead body. The jury deadlocked on a first-degree murder charge,
which could have meant a possible death sentence. Alexander faces
up to life in prison at a Feb. 3 hearing.
Alexander testified that 39-year-old Robert Harrison attacked
him with a knife in January 2009, and Harrison died during the
struggle. Alexander says he dragged Harrison into a bathtub and
sawed him into pieces. He put the body parts into four plastic
containers, filled them with concrete and buried them in the woods
west of Palm Beach Gardens.
Prosecutors believe the killing was premeditated.
