UPDATED 2-21

Police are looking for a man who they say was trying to abduct an 11-year-old girl near an apartment complex in Tallahassee.

Many parents in the community are alarmed by the reported attempted kidnapping.

They say even more upsetting than a man trying to take a young girl, is the fact that the suspect is still at large.

Tallahassee resident Toiya Brown is six months pregnant. She says it can be a scary thought bringing her fourth child into this world, especially after hearing that a man tried to kidnap a girl in the same area where Brown's brother lives.

Brown said, "We want our children to be safe. We want them to be able to walk and not worry about someone coming up to you and actually try to run off with you."

Police say around 6:30pm Sunday, a man approached an 11 year old girl at Arrowpoint Apartments on Fred George Road.

Officers say the man grabbed the girl by her arm when she tried to walk away, and he pulled her toward him.

Tallahassee resident Jawona Manning said, "As a father, it worries me that walking to and from bus stops, walking to and from school, you have to worry about your child, somebody trying to actually abduct your child. People nowadays, they've gone insane."

The girl was able to get away, but, so was the man.

Police say the suspect is a white man, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 inches tall with a thin build and bushy gray hair and a beard.

He was last seen wearing a plain red T-shirt and khaki knee length shorts.

He was described as having an unclean appearance.

Shaina Williams lives in Arrowpoint Apartments. She said, "I moved out this far just to make sure that everything was okay. But, it seems you can never be to safe with your kids. There's no telling what can happen. It's scary, very, very scary."

Officers say the girl was not harmed.

Anyone with information on this incident, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.

Della, you are a sad individual. You can never know one's circumstances. Just because a person is homeless doesn't make them a bad person. That's like saying you hate all black/white people because one individual participated in a hate crime. Your ignorance is borderline fascism. You really need to step back and look at your self in the mirror. And when you say "hard-earned money", I bet you have no idea what that is. You probably live off of a trust fund your parents set up for you and have no idea what it is to work. Your a strain on society. Your no better than those you judge.

Don't judge! Criminals & the homeless suffer from mental illness and need help not persecution. Some people fall on hard times instead of money hand them food or clothing. Della is uneducated uncaring, unfeeling trash. God will decide your judgment!

I think people caught living in the woods and people panhandling should be arrested. Noticed a guy coming out of the woods by Kraft Nissan yesterday and wondered if the fat chick that's panhandling by the new Wal-Mart there is living in the woods by Nissan also. People, STOP giving these vagrants your hard-earned money.

@Bubba -- I think you may be on to something there! @Anonymous on Feb 25, 2011 at 10:40 AM - I spewed Diet Coke all over my screen when I read that! ROFL On a serious note though, some of the posts on here are pretty mean. The little girl gave a great and apparently very detailed description of this guy as there are at least two posts on here that indicate they may have seen this guy (I hope they contacted the authorities!).

To the black woman, some people are so consumed by their own personal suffering of prejudice that they can't see the real threat to their Freedom, like Markisim and Sharia Law You don't see it because the threat comes from a person you assume is of your race. But in reality he is not. He is playing you, knowing you will never suspect him because of the ethnicity he appears to be is that of your own. It is not. He is Muslim, not African American. Your racisms fears consume you so much that they prevent you from seeing any other danger. You think racism is the only threat so much so you don't see the other danger threating you because you are not looking for it. And He knows it that and was anticipating that. He is not a democrat, he is not an American, he is not black. He is a Muslim and he is a very real threat to you because you don't have the slightest suspicion. Your have left your self completely unguarded for his attack.
