TCC's new president Jim Murdaugh has been in his role now for more than 90 days.

President Jim Murdaugh is no stranger to Tallahassee. He went to Florida State for all three of his degrees, and has worked for TCC since 1999 as the Assistant V-P for the College's Gadsden County-based Florida Public Safety Institute. But there's probably a lot you don't know about him, for example, he likes to channel his inner Rachel Ray.

President Jim Murdaugh says get him in front of the grill and he is a happy man.

"I'll grill salads, I'll grill meat, I'll grill desserts... If I can grill it, I'll grill it," Murdaugh said.

He is a grill master, if you will.

"I wouldn't call myself a Bobby Flay kind of guy."

He enjoys spending time with his wife, and son. He and his son have their own cooking competitions and Mrs. Murdaugh is the judge.

Murdaugh grew up in Orlando, and earned his THREE degrees from Florida State.

"Fell in love with Tallahassee, and been here ever since."

He says his favorite thing about his job is interacting with the students. He continued, "Everybody comes here with hopes and dreams, and to know that you have an opportunity to play a role in helping someone achieve those hopes and dreams and to see them sometimes years later when they thank you for whatever small role you played in their life. It's just the biggest thrill in the world."

The man in charge has a Facebook page where he reply's to students questions, and also a blog which he keeps updated, all part of his way to keep in touch with the students.

Jennifer, many of those "thugs" do take classes at TCC, and are looking for the same opportunities that you are. The police do a good job of making campus a safe place to be. There is very little violence and crime considering the number of students.

I wish he would make the police do something about all the thugs that hang out on campus that dont even take classes here. With all the fights I'm about ready to transfer to Chipola
