Tallahassee, FL -- May 24, 2012 --
A group of students paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of the War on Terror.
Students at Cobb Middle School in Tallahassee did the tribute by planting "paper" poppies in honor of the coming Memorial Day holiday.
This event was sponsored by the poem "In Flander's Field" which is a war poem written during the first world war.
The red poppy was chosen because it's a symbol of remembrance.
Teachers thought this interactive activity would be a better way for students to understand the magnitude of lives lost in the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
