Memorial Day at Maclay Gardens - SLIDE SHOW & VIDEO

Updated May 30, 2011 6pm

There was plenty of fun to be had at Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee Monday.

So many people wanted to enjoy there Memorial Day having fun in the sun at Maclay Gardens that the park had to be temporarily closed because it was at full capacity.

By early afternoon, the lake was full of swimmers of all ages.

Some enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and of course, you can't have Memorial Day at the park without a little barbecuing.

The "Gardens" is in a separate location than the swimming area. The parking area used to be a lot bigger; until they made some changes several years back. The changes, definetly made the place look better & more welcoming; however, the parking area needs addressed.

They need to add more parking to this park. Their capacity is way too small. Their capacity is met by the number of parking places. So if there is a party or kayak demo's going on; there may only be a 2 people in the water, yet the park will be closed due to the capacity is full. They have rangers driving around & make sure there is no parking on the grass or other places not marked as a regular parking space. I will not go to this park again. After paying to reserve the pavillion; I family & friends turned away due to this inconvenience.

This is Macley Gardens.... See it GARDENS. Nobody wants to have cars park on their garden - even the state.
