TALLAHASSEE , Fl. – December 6, 2011

Kristina Janolo, Miss Florida 2011, will speak about restoring the Everglades during a meeting with Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

(Note: Janolo is at the top of the Cabinet agenda. The meeting begins at 9 a.m.)

“Water is a basic, necessary substance for life. It is part of everything we drink and eat. We cannot find an alternative to water,” Janolo wrote in a recent column for Orlando Sentinel. “ That is one of the reasons that as Miss Florida 2011, I will compete for Miss America by talking about water issues -- the need to develop water-friendly policies, and oppose any effort to diminish our fragile Everglades ecosystem.”

Janolo, 24, is from Kissimmee and is a marketing major at the University of Central Florida. Janolo is Miss Florida 2011 and she will represent the Sunshine State in the 2012 Miss America pageant.

“Tomorrow I will urge Governor Scott and the Florida Cabinet to secure the water supply for 7 million Floridians by moving Everglades Restoration forward.” said Janolo.

She recently traveled to Washington, D.C. where she met with members of Florida’s congressional delegation to discuss Everglades issues.

It's a shame that this big, worthless swamp is off limits to improvement. The climate is excellent, there is ample water and it's proximity to the Caribbean and Latin America make it ripe for growth. There's a small but growing movement to sell much of the land to help retire the debt. It's a win-win as this would help to avoid raising taxes on job creators and help keep our Bush Tax Cut permanent. PLUS, we're talking jobs, jobs, jobs for Florida with careful and planned development of Big Cypress and what would soon, hopefully, become the former Everglades National Park. The park was a creation of a socialist president, (FDR), and should have never been taken away from Florida business! Development would also add millions of property tax paying residents!

I wonder if it will be a prepared statement. I wonder if she'll have to read it. What a waste of time. Shouldn't she be commenting on nail polish and hair care?

Great - two people who know little or next to nothing about aquatic ecology and hydrology will be "discussing" the problems of the Everglades - all this while Criminal Scott continues to eviscerate and castrate FDEP.
