Mother Gets 50 Years for Meth Lab Baby Injury

Panama City, FL (AP) - A Florida Panhandle woman whose baby
was badly burned in a meth lab explosion last year has been
sentenced to 50 years in prison.

A Bay County judge sentenced 32-year-old Tessa Wagy on Wednesday
after she pleaded no contest. Wagy received 30 years for a
methamphetamine charge and 20 years for child abuse. The sentences
will run consecutively.

Wagy previously rejected a plea deal with prosecutors for 15
years. Her attorney was hoping the judge would give her the minimum
sentence of 10 years.

Authorities arrested Wagy and John Osborn in August 2009 after
their Sand Hills home exploded while Osborn was trying to cook
meth. The couple's 1-year-old daughter, Johnna Osborn, suffered
burns to 65 percent of her body.

Osborn is scheduled for trial at the end of the month.
