A group of local veterans gave back to some National Guard members Saturday.

Tallahassee's Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3308 held a 'National Guard Appreciation Day.'

The event featured music, food, games and a poker run.

Members of the VFW Post say they held the event to honor the men and women who've served their country as part of the National Guard.

"They have contributed so much to the state of Florida and to the city of Tallahassee, the capital of our state, we want to show a gratitude by having them over and just showing an appreciation of what we think of them," says Ken Swords, a former Marine and Vietnam Veteran.
