Nelson Wants New Home Tax Break, Will Be Tough

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson said Wednesday that another homebuyer tax credit like last year’s $8000 tax break would help boost the economy, but says that it is “going to be rough sledding to get.” Nelson, speaking to newspaper editors at an Associated Press gathering in Tallahassee, said last year’s credit boosted new home sales considerably and would likely do so again. But, he said, “the price tag is about $10 million and that’s going to be very tough to get in this climate.”

I agree with Anonymous. Making it possible to buy homes you couldn't pay for is a great deal of the problem we have today. And certainly not having a job or the specter of losing the one you have is a major factor in the housing sales slump. And now I see Caterpillar, who, not long after passage of Obamacare, said it would cost them a million dollars a year, is opening factories in China. GE has signed a number of contracts with China, as well. I haven't seen what the contracts are for, but I wouldn't doubt if they aren't for engines for their new stealth fighter, copied from military equipment Russia sold them. They need an engine for it, so now they'll steal the design of GE engines if they are included. And Caterpillar will soon have a competitor in China using their designs and specs, as well. I thought Obama was a short sighted idiot, but it appears greed is blinding normally logical business, as well.

We will see. With many people not knowing if they will have a job next week, I don't see housing purchases making a jump anytime soon.
