Community leaders throughout Leon County and Tallahassee welcomed a new business Tuesday, August 21, 2012.
Envision Credit Union opened the doors to its new branch at the Killearn Center. The credit union is taking over the site of a former KFC restaurant. It took about seven months and millions of dollars to build. Local leaders see the new business as a sign the economy is growing.
"This particular one being a financial institution, to continue to grow, for deposits to continue to grow and for customers, that demonstrating that our community, our city and county are doing better than a lot of other places economically," says Tallahassee City Commissioner Gil Ziffer.
"It's huge. Not a lot of businesses in town can say they've gotten fifty plus years of history in this community, so I'm excited about having them here," says Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge.
The Leon County-based credit-union had a soft opening Monday 8-12. Its grand opening is set for Saturday, August 25. Envision employees 114 people throughout its six branches. Envision has been around for more than 50 years.
